Description
Why does this scarf exist?
Cervelt is one of the rarest fibers on earth. A single red deer yields about 20 grams a year, gathered without harming the animal. At 13 microns it is finer than the finest cashmere. Also it is strong enough not to be a pill.
Every brand made the same decision about cervelt. Knit it, or run it through a power loom. Fast, controlled, repeatable.
Nobody put it on a handloom, because handweaving a 13-micron down fiber at Nm 40 finest yarn is a problem weavers cannot solve. The yarn is short. It breaks. It cannot take machine tension.
We solved it the only way it could be solved. We gave it to the people who already spend their lives weaving the most impossible thread on earth.
Woven by the hands that revived Dhaka Muslin
Our weavers hold GI No. 39, Bangladesh. They hand-spin and hand-weave Phuti Karpas cotton into 500-count Dhaka Muslin, the fabric that passes through a finger ring. Their sixteen-step process governs everything: fiber preparation, hand warping, sizing, humidity, the beat of the reed, the tension of the warp.
We applied that same sixteen-step discipline to Cervelt yarn from Douglas Creek in New Zealand. Same pit. Same loom. Same hands. A different fiber than any of them had touched before.
The result is a cloth with a hand that no machine produces. Machine-woven Cervelt is even, correct, and inert. This cloth breathes. The weft sits slightly differently every inch because a person put it there.
The raw edge is the signature
There is no hem on this scarf. There is no machine finish anywhere on it. The edge is exactly as it came off the pit loom, hand-secured and left raw. That edge is the proof of origin. A machine cannot make it, and a machine cannot fake it.
The color is undyed, natural. This is the exact shade the red deer grew in a New Zealand winter, and no two harvests are identical.
What you are actually buying
Only three Cervelt scarves were made in 2026. That is not a marketing limit. That is the total output of a pit loom running this fiber for a month. While other brands produced roughly 400 Cervelt garments in its history. We have produced three scarves yet.
You are not buying a rarer version of something that exists. You are buying the first of something that did not exist.

CARE
Hand wash in normal cold water with an organic wool detergent. Do not soak. Do not wring. Roll in a towel to remove water and dry flat, away from direct sun. Do not hang while wet.
Cervelt is naturally odor-resistant and crease-resistant. Most owners will need to wash it once a season or less. Airing it is usually enough.
